Outside Fuzzies

The other day I was lookin' out da window and guess what I saw? Other fuzzies! I wanted to go outside and play wif dem but da mommy said I couldn't. "Why not?" I asked. She said dat dey may have fleas and maybe some sickies. Da mommy said that she is feeding them and she's hoping to bring dem to da vets to get checked out. If dey are all healthy she'll bring dem inside and then I can play with dem! Yay! I would love some new friends.

A little scare

The Mom -

Last night I really wanted to spend some time with Ayla when I got home from work. I got her out of the laundry basket and put her on my pillow to lavishly give her attention. That's when I noticed blood dripping out of her mouth. Of course I freaked but the Dad reminded that the vet said this could happen. "Remember that he had to punch a hole in her jaw to get the biopsy." Ugh. I just picked her up and cuddled her and started crying. I know the Dad keeps telling me to prepare for the worst but why does this have to happen to her? She is such a good girl and has been one of the best companions. I just hate seeing her having to go through this sort of stuff. No she's not suffering but she had to endure the testing and surgery which can't be fun. I just want her to be happy and healthy.

The bleeding did stop. It really wasn't a lot. Just a few drops. I'm just glad she's taking this better than me. She was purring and enjoying all the pets and huggles. This just isn't fair.

We're Baaaaaack

The Mom -

Since things have been so hectic over the past school year, I've neglected this blog. What's worse? I forgot all the log in information for the other Flock O' Fuzzies blog so I had to recreate this one. *rolls eyes* Oh well.

As a lot of you know, Ayla (my little grumpy girl) was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. It's a nasty type of skin cancer that has made her oral cavity home. Unfortunately it is malignant and there really isn't anything we can do. She is still snarky, proof of this was last night when she gave Frankie such a thwap that you could hear it 10 feet away. Her appetite comes and goes. Until today, she has been scarfing down quite a bit of Stinky Goodness. This morning, however, she barely touched it. That has me worried, as you can imagine.

We've decided the best recourse for the old girl is just to make her as comfortable as possible. When she is no longer her snarky self, that's when we'll make the tough decision. As long as she shows some enjoyment to life, we'll be happy.
