Little Nermle

This guy really has saved my sanity over the past couple of weeks. After losing Bomber, things got difficult for me. However, the little fellow keeps doing things to keep my mind off of that and is helping me with the stress associated with the end of the semester.

When we brought him to Dr. Bob last week, we found out he has a heart murmur. Nothing terribly serious right now but it does have the vet concerned. As he's only 3 pounds, the doc isn't sure if he's too small for an ECG but they got a new machine and the "younger" vet knows better. Unfortunately, that one has been out sick all week.

I just want to make sure Nermle is OK. Bear and I were talking about it and we're going to give him the best medical care possible but we just want to know what it is.

If you folks can be kind enough to keep him in your prayers, I would really appreciate it.

We will purr too. I also have a heart murmur. The doctor ran tests and I have a thickened left ventricle and the valve isn't quite right, so I have to take medication. I take 1/4 atenolol (beta blocker) twice a day. I weigh about 10 pounds, so if Nermle needs medicine, it may be a lower dose. Some kitties take it mixed in food or hidden in a pill pocket or cheese. I did not like it that way, so Mommy uses a pill shooter and then gives me a treat. Good luck to Nermle!

P.S. Atenolol is really cheap. We get it at a human pharmacy and it is $4 for 2 months. And since I've been taking atenolol, my heart murmur went from a level 3 to a level 2. Mommy has also noticed that I run around a little more.
